DISCOVER OUR INNOVATIVE EDUCATION PROPOSAL
Lessons are designed to stimulate the mind, develop key skills and encourage personal growth.
At Laurea World School, we offer a variety of lessons designed to stimulate the mind, develop key skills and foster the personal growth of our students.
OUR METHODOLOGY:
CONSTRUCTIVIST
The constructivist method is an educational perspective that emphasises the active role of the learner in the construction of their own knowledge. Rather than being passive recipients of information, students are seen as active participants in their learning, constructing meaning and understanding through interaction with their environment and reflection on their experiences. This methodology is based on the learning theories of leading psychologists such as Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky, who emphasised the importance of cognitive and social development in the learning process.
The main features of the constructivist method include experiential learning, a focus on problem solving, collaborative work and formative assessment. Rather than focusing on memorising facts and concepts, students are engaged in hands-on, exploratory activities that allow them to actively build their understanding. This approach fosters critical thinking, creativity and student autonomy, preparing them to deal effectively with real-world challenges.
The benefits of the constructivist method are numerous. By emphasising the process of learning rather than simply the outcomes, this methodology promotes a deep and lasting understanding of concepts. In addition, by allowing students to be the protagonists of their own learning, it fosters their intrinsic motivation and engagement with education. This helps them develop problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills that are essential for success in today’s world.
The constructivist method is a trending methodology in education because of its learner-centred approach and its ability to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. In an ever-changing world where access to information is broad but critical thinking and adaptability are critical, the constructivist method offers a relevant and effective educational approach that empowers students to become lifelong learners and active, engaged citizens.
EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM: ASC
ASC is the resource with which we will put into practice the methodology of our institution, unlike traditional methodologies, ASC is based on the way the brain processes information and learning, so that teachers can create strategies and environments through proper classroom management, which make students can take advantage and develop to the maximum this way of learning.
It uses neuroscience as a tool for the development of content and learning skills, favouring the construction of new knowledge and provoking interest in the student to continue learning. Neuroscience applied to education is in charge of understanding how the brain works in order to make the best use of it. With ASC’s resources and books, we encourage academic learning according to the natural design of the human being.
This approach combines cognitive neuroscience with pedagogy to create strategies and tools that help maximise the brain’s functioning in the educational process.
The ASC materials are designed in line with the proposed curriculum of the Secretaría de Educación Pública and are therefore fully compatible with the Plan de Estudios 2022 de Educación Nacional.
Financial Education
We teach students basic financial concepts, how to manage money responsibly and the importance of saving and investing.
Promoting financial education from an early age in school is essential to prepare children and young people to face the financial challenges they will encounter throughout their lives. This approach gives them the tools they need to make informed and responsible financial decisions. Some key topics that will be addressed in this programme include the importance of saving, budget management, responsible use of credit and investing.
The benefits of early financial education are plentiful. Not only does it promote financial independence and long-term planning skills, but it can also help prevent over-indebtedness and poor financial decisions. In addition, teaching children about concepts such as compound interest and investment diversification provides them with a solid foundation for building financial security throughout their lives.
The impact on the daily lives of children and young people who receive proper financial education is remarkable. They become more aware of their spending decisions, learn to set realistic financial goals and assess the long-term consequences of their actions. This not only gives them greater confidence in their ability to manage their money, but also contributes to the financial stability of future generations and the economic well-being of society as a whole.
This programme does not have an assigned weekly timetable, but works gradually in accordance with the classroom content of all its subjects while engaging the children in the subject through the workbooks and the experiences provoked by the teachers until the objectives are met according to the grade level.
Mindfulness
We teach mindfulness and meditation techniques to help students manage stress, improve concentration and promote emotional well-being.
Introducing mindfulness practices into the school curriculum is an added value to promote emotional well-being, mindfulness and socio-emotional development of pre-school and primary school children. It aims to:
- 1.
- Teach children simple mindful breathing techniques to help them calm down and focus on the present moment.
- Introduce mindfulness exercises that promote body and sensory awareness, such as listening to sounds, paying attention to physical sensations and observing thoughts and emotions without judgement.
- Promote emotional self-regulation by teaching children to identify and manage their emotions in a healthy way through mindfulness practices.
- Cultivate skills of empathy and compassion for self and others through mindfulness exercises that focus on interpersonal connection and understanding of others’ experiences.
Programme structure:
- • Daily 15-20 minute sessions by integrating mindfulness practices into everyday activities, such as the start and end of the school day, transitions between activities and break times.
- • Use of age-appropriate visual resources, audios and sensory materials to facilitate participation and engagement.
Benefits:
The inclusion of mindfulness in the school curriculum offers a number of significant benefits both for children’s personal lives and for the classroom space in general. On a personal level, these practices help children develop skills to manage stress, anxiety and difficult emotions effectively, contributing to greater emotional and mental well-being. In addition, mindfulness improves concentration, attention and academic performance by promoting greater mental clarity and the ability to focus on the present task. In the classroom space, the integration of mindfulness creates a calmer, more focused and respectful learning environment where children feel safe to express themselves, collaborate and interact with others in a positive way. This practice also fosters the creation of a more united and compassionate school community, where empathy and understanding are core values and all our teachers will be trained to make the best use of this tool. In short, the mindfulness programme in the school curriculum not only benefits individual children, but also improves the quality of the educational experience and the school climate as a whole.
Philosophy for Children
We stimulate critical thinking and reflection through age-appropriate philosophical discussions.
Philosophy for Children is an educational proposal that provides children with appropriate tools as they begin to question themselves about the world and how they fit into it. It is a systematic and progressive programme specially designed for children and adolescents from 3 to 18 years of age. There will be specific class spaces from K3 to 6th grade with working sessions of approximately 40 minutes per week.
Based on traditional themes from the history of philosophy, and using a set of carefully planned and tested methodological guidelines, which encourage children’s curiosity and astonishment, the aim is to stimulate and develop the complex thinking (high order thinking) of others within a community of enquiry. It is in this community, where its members work to be able to understand each other’s point of view and strive in solidarity to discover the meaning of the world and the society in which they live, that the programme takes place.
Philosophy for Children, created in 1969 by Matthew Lipman (USA) and now used in more than fifty countries on all continents, does not aim to turn children into professional philosophers, but rather to develop and keep alive in them a critical, creative and caring attitude towards others (caring thinking). To this end, it is based on
- • a set of philosophical stories that serve as basic reading texts and as triggers for philosophical discussion,
- • a set of philosophical stories that serve as basic reading texts and as triggers for philosophical discussion, teacher support books that provide teachers with a variety of discussion plans and exercises that facilitate the achievement of the proposed objectives,
- • a training programme for teachers, enabling them to extract the full potential of the stories and to ensure a sequential development of the proposed skills,
- • a pedagogical methodology aimed at transforming the classroom into a community of enquiry.

Art, Culture and Sport
We encourage artistic expression, cultural awareness and physical development through sporting activities.
For Laurea World School, implementing an arts and physical education programme for pre-school and primary school children is a top priority. These disciplines not only complement children’s academic development, but are also essential for their holistic growth. The arts promote creativity, individual expression and aesthetic appreciation from an early age, thus encouraging exploration of the world through different media and forms of expression. In addition, physical education not only contributes to children’s physical health, but also teaches them social skills, teamwork and leadership, while promoting the importance of exercise and emotional well-being.
Integrating these subjects into the curriculum offers a wide range of benefits. On the one hand, it strengthens the academic profile of the school by offering a more holistic and balanced education. On the other hand, it provides children with opportunities to develop unique skills and talents, as well as to explore different areas of interest. The implementation of art and physical education programmes within the curriculum will be through the allocation of at least 2 specific hours for each of these subjects, the recruitment of specialised staff and the additional incorporation of related extra-curricular activities to further deepen these areas.
Magic Circle
We focus on the emotional development of students, teaching them skills to recognise and manage emotions, as well as strategies to prevent bullying and promote a safe and welcoming school environment.
The magic circle methodology is a powerful tool for fostering emotional intelligence and social-emotional development in children. This technique involves sitting children in a circle where they can share their feelings, experiences and concerns in a safe and trusting environment. Through structured activities, such as talking about their emotions, practising active listening and engaging in role-play, children learn to identify and express their emotions in a healthy way.
One of the main benefits of the magic circle is the promotion of emotional self-regulation. By teaching children to recognise and manage their own emotions, they are provided with an invaluable tool to deal with the challenges of everyday life in a constructive way. In addition, this methodology fosters empathy by enabling children to understand the experiences and emotions of their peers, thus strengthening interpersonal relationships and the ability to work as part of a team. Finally, the magic circle can also play an important role in the prevention of bullying by creating an inclusive environment where mutual respect and understanding between children is fostered, thus reducing conflicts and promoting a culture of support and care among peers.
Magic circle is not a subject as such, it is a way of working and conflict resolution and is therefore applied throughout the time the children are in school, sometimes explicitly and sometimes subtly through activities, dynamics or even class content.
Gnius club
We introduce students to the world of technology, teaching them skills in programming, app design and robotics, encouraging creativity and innovative thinking.
Working hand in hand with Gnius Club to enhance creativity through technology brings exceptional additional value in a number of ways. The platform not only effectively integrates academic teaching with advanced technological tools, but also employs a playful, challenge-inspired methodology, thus stimulating critical thinking and problem solving in a fun and dynamic way. This unique combination not only strengthens students’ thinking skills and creativity, but also prepares them to face the challenges of today’s world in an innovative and effective way. It uses the Harvard Child Development Institute’s Science-Based Innovation approach to building its programmes.
In addition, you can earn certifications while you play and learn (at the end of the programme) as they are the only digital innovation programme endorsed by the SEP, these internationally recognised certifications are an important tool to open the doors to a globalised world.
Genius is a UN-recognised programme, which validates the quality and relevance of its programmes in the field of education. Being awarded the UN World Summit Award for the “World’s Best Digital Innovation” in the Education category underlines the significant impact Gnius Club has in transforming education through the use of technology and the promotion of digital creativity and innovation. This distinction not only highlights Gnius Club’s commitment to educational excellence, but also highlights its contribution to addressing the world’s current and future needs in terms of education and skills development.
This subject will be brought into the school curriculum as part of the LWS offer for both pre-school and primary school, through 30 or 40 minute class sessions (as appropriate), and the full benefits can be realised within the regular timetable.
Psychomotricity program
(Preschool)
The aim of this programme is to promote the integral development of pre-school children through psychomotor activities designed to stimulate their coordination, balance, spatial perception and gross and fine motor skills, which will be the basis of many skills to be developed in the future and to achieve this, it aims to:
- • Develop gross motor coordination through games and exercises involving running, jumping, climbing, crawling and throwing.
- • Improve balance and coordination through balancing activities such as walking in a line, jumping on one foot and climbing exercises.
- • Stimulate spatial perception and orientation through shape, colour and direction recognition games.
- • Encourage the development of fine motor skills through activities involving manipulation of small objects, such as stringing beads, cutting, gluing and drawing.
The structure of the programme consists of 30-40 minute sessions, twice a week and includes a combination of games, individual and group exercises, circuits and teacher-led activities using a variety of materials and resources such as mats, hoops, balls, ropes, tunnels and obstacle courses.
Psychomotor activities in the school timetable offer a number of crucial advantages for the holistic development of pre-school children. These activities not only promote physical development, but also have a positive impact on children’s cognitive, emotional and social development. By participating in psychomotor activities, children improve their coordination, balance and motor skills, enabling them to function more confidently and effectively in their environment. In addition, these activities foster self-esteem, self-confidence and self-expression, as well as social skills such as teamwork, cooperation and communication. Ultimately, integrating psychomotor skills into the school timetable not only improves children’s physical and emotional well-being, but also lays the foundation for holistic development and optimal lifelong learning.
